How to get a bike in Copenhaguen
The cycling phenomenon in Copenhaguen has to be experienced to be believed.
If you are planning to stay sometime in Copenhagen you can’t live without a bike, not only because the facilities the city brings but also because of the money you are going to save. Using public transport in Copenhagen is fairly expensive.
We don’t recommend you to buy a new bike if you are not going to live for a long period in the city. They are very expensive and you run the risk your bike can be stolen. Our advice is to look for a second hand bike. There are a lot of second hand bike shops in the city and maybe the best one are in Østerbro or in Nørreport .
You can try with dba.dk, a second hand web, where you can find a lot of bargains, but people don’t usually answer the emails, so you will need a danish mobile to get in contact with them. A lot of young people, when finish their studying stay in CPH, try to re-sell theirs bikes, so it’s not a bad idea try to get in contact with them through dba.dk, couchsurfing.org , facebook groups, etc.
Normal prices are around 700 and 800 DKK for a second hand bike.
When you leave the city, you can always sell your bike in one of the second hand shops, or through the ways we have commented before.
We wish you luck and have fun with your bike!
